Refining Our Commitment

There is truth in the English proverb, 'Necessity is the mother of invention.'

To manage the challenges facing every industry in this post-pandemic environment, we knew we needed new strategies and centered our attention to what was in our sphere of influence. This focus created an opportunity to evaluate, refine, and evolve to make the most of our resources and deliver the best care to our patients. Therefore, we focused on value-added activities and trusted in our team. This journey will develop a culture of highly engaged team members at all levels to solve problems and improve our work to produce greater impact on our patients and team.

The key to making this journey successful is affirming our commitment to our greatest asset, people. HSNT was intentional in strengthening communication to support our team and community.

At HSNT, putting our best foot forward means incorporating technology, developing our team, and recruiting diverse talent to advance the health of our patients and community. We will continue to use our HSNT BEST framework to improve systems and processes to prepare for upcoming changes in healthcare, the unwinding of practices related to the pandemic, and strategic planning to guide our future direction.

There are many uncertainties in this current climate, however, we remain unwavering in our commitment to our employees, patients, and community partners.

Doreen Rue, LMSW-AP, ACSW

Chief Executive Officer

"HSNT was able to capitalize on new ideas and processes to support our team and patients through current challenges. As a result, despite significant workforce shortages, we provided care to more patients - notably to children and pregnant women."

A Message from Board

President, Dale Tampke

Boards of Directors can take on many roles. They can focus on strategic planning to maximize client wellbeing. They can ensure that the leadership and staff are well-supported. They can mind the finances with an eye toward long term organizational stability. They can keep the technology and other infrastructure state-of-the-art.

Health Services of North Texas' Board of Directors does all of this and more. And we do it with an unshakeable commitment to the communities we serve, the people engaged with HSNT as patients and partners.

We are collectively and individually grateful for the opportunity to serve you through our stewardship of the community resource that is HSNT. While 2022 has been a year of change and growth, challenge and adaptation, one constant prevails. We are keenly focused on improving the health and wellness of all North Texans.

Our vision is a healthy community for all.

Dale Tampke, Board President

51%

As a Community Health Center, HSNT requires that at least 51% of Board Members are our patients and demographically represent our overall patient population. These requirements ensure that the needs of our patients are consistently represented at the highest level of our organization so we can positively impact our patients' lives and our community as a whole.

Making a Difference for our Patients

"These healthcare professionals are just that. I get emotional talking about the level of care that they provided. [My provider and medical assistant] provided me with the resources to help maintain my blood pressure and weight loss."

"This place is incredible. The staff and nurses are always pleasant and very helpful. My appointments start on time and the costs are very reasonable. They even have a sliding fee scale for payment. I've used this clinic now for about three years and have never been disappointed with the service or personnel."

Making a Difference for Children

"When we moved my children had no insurance, and my husband found [HSNT] on an internet search. I am glad we found this place - it was affordable, and their sliding fee scale works very well. I have recommended them to many of my friends [because of the] nice staff and clean clinic. They are very helpful, and my children’s favorite is Bethany [Ishmael], NP. She is very knowledgeable and amazing with kids."

"E. is very happy with the care his doctor gives him… thanks to his diagnosis and treatment he can be a happy child with himself, with his classmates, at school, and with his family. Dr. Crystal [McLeod] diagnosed E. with Hyperactivity, Attention Deficit Disorder, and Autism. She chose a treatment for E., which has been a turning point in his life. He could not organize his ideas, he stuttered, and he had problems socializing and doing his homework. The treatment has helped him to be a happy child."

Making a Difference for Women

"For the past decade, I have been privileged to provide maternal prenatal care and delivery to the patients of Health Services of North Texas. Their appreciation for the excellent care they receive from the entire team at HSNT is always rewarding. The nurse practitioners on the front lines are second to none. I love working with them and could not have our excellent outcomes in a high risk population without them." - Dr. Antonio Asis

"The people at HSNT are always friendly every time I come in. I feel that Janice Hill has done a wonderful job with my care and if it wasn’t for her, I would still be unaware that I have osteoporosis. Thankfully I am now on medication for this, and I am aware that I must be much more careful due to the osteoporosis."

"They were all very helpful and felt welcome from when I entered the office to when I left. My nurse, Nicole Sherman took the time to answer all the questions I had. Great experience, as I was nervous because I've not had a good experience with my previous pregnancies."

PATIENTS

HSNT patients who qualify for the nominal fee have access to counseling services for only $15 a session.

HSNT listened to our community’s concerns about the growing need for behavioral healthcare in North Texas. We took a significant step to increase access to these essential services by hiring an additional, experienced behavioral health counselor in 2022.

The strategic addition of Dr. James Pinkston doubled HSNT’s capacity for counseling services, which research shows are needed now more than ever.

From counseling, to tele-psychiatry, to treatment for diagnoses like ADHD, anxiety, or depression that are provided during a medical visit – HSNT is here for our patients’ mental and physical healthcare needs. Our integrated model treats the whole person, mind and body, because we understand the deep connection between physical and mental health.

"When a person receives good psychotherapy, they receive an experience that helps shape and guide future thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that extend well beyond the time spent in session or the course of therapy. Psychotherapy is an investment in yourself to gain the tools and emotional awareness to be successful in all areas of life.... It is through HSNT's access to care, flexibility, coordination between our providers, and prioritization of our patients that one can expect to experience good psychotherapy that is worth the investment of time and work."

Making a Difference One Patient at a Time

"I feel seen, cared for, and more informed than I’ve ever been.”

Found, Right On Time

Living with an infectious disease can be overwhelming and full of anxiety. Whether you choose to seek care immediately or a few years after, the care you receive should not only be informative, but compassionate as well.

In Jordan Grahmann’s instance, though not immediate, he says he found HSNT “right on time.”

HSNT Patient Story

“I wasn’t responsible with my health; I was ignorant of health practices, and it was mainly due to not knowing where to go... Before becoming a patient of HSNT, I wasn’t receiving care because of fear of being judged and not receiving quality care due to my condition,” Grahmann says.

“HSNT has helped me gain access to care by being thorough and informative, way more than any provider I’ve had in years past. I come from a small town where a lot of information isn’t accessible to patients, especially when stereotyped. Laurie Mottl, Physician Assistant, has left no stone unturned regarding my health information. She has not only given me information but is sure I comprehend and feel cared for during the process. I’ve received education and resources to better take care of my health. In a short amount of time, I feel so comfortable. It is so hard to build rapport with a provider as a new patient, as well as get appointments. I have been fortunate to not experience either [of these challenges] since being a patient at HSNT."

“I tell my friends about HSNT often and anyone who is looking to receive quality care. It’s not every day that you find this level of professionalism and efficiency. I received a call back the same day to set an appointment and a week later to send over my documents. HSNT has given me hope in my health journey and reassurance that my needs can be met and exceeded regarding taking care of my health. You don’t always find that in a medical center, but I’m glad I did."

"I am a 41 year old addict in recovery now over two years. I was an IV drug user and like many, caught Hepatitis C. I was ashamed, felt dirty, hurt and sleepy all the time, and over all felt like I wasn't normal like the next person. I moved to the Collin County area and was able to get in touch with Dr. Kaushik and literally in less than a month she had the prescriptions, case worker and everything on her part done. I don't think that there is any doctor out there that has been more loving and caring than her."
